A title sequence is the method by which cinematic film present their title key credit production and cast member or both utilising conceptual visual and sound.
The purpose of a title sequence:
1.Sets the tone
2.Introduces the location
3.Introduces the character
4. Lists idents depending on the production companies
5.Introduces the film genre
6. Lists Credits
7. Engages the audience
Here below, we have attached a title sequence from a film called "Life of Pi" and you can see the conventions listed above displayed in this title sequence.
In this title sequence of Life of Pi, animations of leaves growing sets the motion for the film and engages the audience to pay attention to the sequence. The sequence has also set the tone of the film as audience can tell that that the film will be based around animals and wildlife.
