RESEARCH: My Prelim

31. PRELIM Jan Deborah Jana Ali from 283goswell on Vimeo.

Evalaution
During the stages of the filming on Friday , I've learnt numerous skills. The number one rule that always stayed with me was to never cross the 180 degree line, that helped us during the filming as it would make the shots look more realistic and authentic. While filming , I became familiar with the shots e.g the wide shots and close ups and where it would be the best place to get the best angle. Additionally, during dialogues I learnt that it is better to record across the shoulder of the person NOT talking to get a better shot and vice versa to get the perfect match cut. One thing we could've improved on was ensuring we always followed the storyboard because there were certain occasions where we missed out scenes because we didn't look at the storyboard, so in future that would prevent us from wasting time and being organised. As a group, we were particularly good at getting shots perfect the first time and knowing what we needed to do. Jan in particular was good at organising us all into place and making us work as a team. Jana was very good at staying in character and perfect for the shots likewise for Ali. I would credit myself for suggesting tips for the team to improve and constantly reminding them about the 180 degree rule.

The things I would probably change if we had to do the project again is probably the idea, the scenes were quite dull even thought we got very good shots. Maybe if more humour was included then it would be better. Nevertheless, the film so far is very good as we followed each and every requirement and handled all the equipment with great care. Finally , this prelim task made me aware of the importance of a storyboard as it shows an order of structure because of there was no storyboard the shots would be disorganised and probably be rubbish. Therefore, for my big production I will ensure that I have definitely made a perfect storyboard. Furthermore, during the editing session there was no errors as we all understood what was being done and the scenes that were being cut and removed made the resultant piece very brilliant and outstanding. I'm proud of my team and the outcome of the piece we produced.
