RESEARCH: Analysing two title sequences

Honey, I Shrunk the Kids (1989) — Art of the Title

The first title sequence I analysed was the film "Honey, I shrunk the kids". In the opening of the title sequence , I was introduced to two animated characters ( a boy and a girl) with credits surrounded by them like skyscrapers. This idea of the towering credits falling and surrounding them correlated with the film title as it sets a motion for the film to know that the kids did shrink. The credits were very three-dimensional which grabbed my attention. The actions of the credits falling onto the characters set the genre for the film which is : adventure; additionally the music was a form of non-diegetic sound being very fast and active which confirmed the genre of the film.
The plot is was quite unclear but it seemed like he film would be about the two kids trying to escape being shrunken. Moreover, as soon as the film began and the film's title & credits were shown , it reeled in the audience watching for suspense belief. This was very effective as the other title sequence I will be later analysing , it made me want to watch the rest of the film but the other title sequence was quite boring and didn't grab my attention.

The final title sequence I analysed was the film "Lolita". The opening consisted of idents from many different production companies. I was introduced to a foot and someone's hand with the film title on the right hand side in white italic writing. The background of this film was black and white which obviously at the time they didn't have colour and animation like the first film I analysed. Also, the film company could've been on a tight budget to produce this film. The credits of actors names are displayed on the right hand side whilst on the left hand side a man is painting a woman's toes - which is a sign of pampering and affection. This gives me an insight to what the film will be about and what genre the film is based on which is Romance. Likewise to the first film analysed, non diegetic sound is used to set the tone for the film. The music is graceful, elegant and gentle so it confirms that the film will be about love and romance. However, I have no idea what's happening but it most likely would be a love story between the two characters introduced.
